Weekly Wrasslin Wrankings June 24 – June 30

You want rankings? Here are the rankings. I didn’t have much time for anything other than WWE this week, unfortunately. Good news is that I’ve got the G1 in the US Special loaded as I write this.

  1. MAXIMIZATION OF TELEVISION TIME – What did this person do with their minutes? Were they must see? Was it something exciting to witness?
  2. FOLLOW THROUGH – Did this person handle the mic and deliver as promised or fall flat on their face. Even if it’s poor booking, it’s still a strike against them.
  3. STRAIGHT UP ENJOYMENT – Some times this will be enough to get them on through.
  4. IN RING PERFORMANCE – Yeah sure you were great on the mic but did your match stink up the joint?

*We reserve the right to add/subtract or alter the criteria at any point.

This week will likely be all WWE but the plan will be to include ANY wrestling that one of us has watched that week which does include when Justin watched WCW Nitro on the Network. Included for this weeks list are: Monday Night Raw, SmackDown Live and NXT.

Weekly Wrasslin Wrankings

June 24 – June 30

1. Carmella

She did great in the MitB rematch on SmackDown and was the clear cut victor in my eyes with everything she did this week. Well done.

2. Nia Jax

I have to hand it to Monday Night Raw. In two weeks they’ve done more to repair their Women’s Division than they have in a year. The gauntlet match was a great idea, executed very well, and Nia was the star of it. She gained the most hands down and has officially shaken up the order of the division.

3. Women’s Money in the Bank Rematch

I was highly invested in this as the Main Event of SDL this week. Everyone came out better for it. The division shines on. Looking forward to seeing where everyone lands on the other side of it.

4. Asuka vs Nikki Cross

This is probably my favorite match of the week. Finally seeing someone Asuka’s equal but STILL not being able to get it done. These two tore each other apart and took risk after risk to put on a truly exciting match on NXT.

5.  Breezango

The Fashion Files continue to be one of my favorite things on TV and Fashion Vice is especially good. I love the utilization of The Ascension in this weeks installment.

6.  Oney Lorcan vs Hideo Itami

These guys managed to tell a hell of a story using blood, match stoppage, and A LOT of hard hitting action. Kudos, gents.

7. Goldust

Great job of evolving away from the vignettes and still not paying this off. Making us wait longer by making the bad guy, Goldust, do bad stuff and bringing the camera to put between them was brilliant.

8. Samoa Joe

Another good week from Joe as he trapped Brock Lesnar in the Coquina Clutch and almost had him dead to rights. Somehow we need two more weeks of this without it feeling old. For now, Joe rolls on.

9. The Velveteen Dream

Still watching this character very closely. Often times (unless something is particularly awful) he will make the list. I enjoy watching the growth and am curious to see where he takes it.

10. The Miztourage

I’m putting them here on merely their existence and the potential. Bo and Axel are a great team and should make for great heavies for Miz.

BUMMER: ME – I’m pretty bummed I didn’t have time to get any other wrestling in this week.

  2. Breezango (3)
  3. Samoa Joe (3)
